All passengers must undergo a security check before departure. You will be screened by a security official for objects that are not allowed to be taken on board.
Which objects are not allowed on board?
It is prohibited to take sharp or pointed objects in your hand luggage and/or to carry them on your person. Pocket knives, (tie) pins, scissors, razor blades, etc., can only be transported in your checked luggage. They must be placed in your luggage before you check in. If sharp or pointed objects are found in your hand luggage during the security check, you will have to hand them over to the security officials. Confiscated objects will not be returned, nor will you be reimbursed for them. If you refuse to turn over such objects, you will not be allowed to board your flight.
Special attention to fake and toy weapons
Lookalike and toy weapons are often freely available in holiday countries. Such weapons are not allowed in the Netherlands because of their close resemblance to real firearms. If you take back such items to the Netherlands, you will be fined (approx. € 150) upon discovery, and an official criminal record will be filed!
You may take your mobile phone on board the airplane, but it must remain turned off for the duration of the flight. It is strictly prohibited to use your mobile phone or to have it on stand-by during the flight because it may interfere with the aircraft’s instruments.
It is not permitted to take hazardous materials on the plane. A canister of campsite gas or even a bottle of nail polish remover is considered hazardous. If such substances are discovered during the security check, you will have to turn them over to the security officials. Confiscated objects will not be returned, nor will you be reimbursed for them.
Personal stereo systems or portable computers may not be used (or switched on) during the flight. These objects can interfere with the plane's instruments.
