Do I have to reserve a parking space at P4 (long stay)?
You do not have to reserve parking spaces at Groningen Airport Eelde. We have a sufficient amount of parking space available for holidaymakers. All parking spaces are at walking distance from the terminal. Click here for more information about parking at our airport.
Do we really have to be present 2 hours before departure?
When you go on holiday from Groningen Airport Eelde you must be present for check-in 2 hours before the scheduled departure time at the latest.
The check-in times for scheduled flights are different.
Can I take my suitcases to the airport first and then go back home again to check in later?
For security reasons it is not possible to bring in your luggage in the morning and return later. This applies to all flights.
There are no luggage lockers available at Groningen Airport Eelde.
Can I take a sandwich along in my carry-on luggage?
No problem if you want to take a sandwich in your hand luggage. There are, however, special regulation with regard to liquids and sharp objects. Click here for more information on this.
Can I reserve a seat?
You can reserve a seat via the airline you are flying. The travel agency or the tour operator where you booked your flight can also help you in this matter.
I need to take medicine; can I take them along in the carry-on luggage?
You need a certificate from your doctor or apothecary to take medicine along!
Always ensure that you take your medicine along in you carry-on luggage, i.e. not in the baggage that is checked into the loading space of the airplane via the check-in desk. We also recommend that you take an translation into the English language of your prescription so you can show this when customs officers or security personnel want to ask questions about your medicine or about syringes. Syringes need to be packed well. If you have a medicine that needs to be kept refrigerated, we recommend that you pack them in cooling bags or vacuum bottles that meet the applicable customs regulations for carry-on luggage. There is no on-board refrigeration facility.

Can I take the dog along into the departure hall?
You may take your dog along into the public part of the terminal. It is not allowed to take the dog along into the departure hall.
Will the plane arrive / depart in time?

I am going to pick up my family/friends. How long does it take the passengers to leave the airplane?
Once an aircraft has landed, it usually takes 15 to 30 minutes before the passengers can leave the arrivals hall with their luggage. Depending on how busy, it is at that particular moment, it may take less or more time.
Why can’t I leave and/or board the plane at a stopover location (Maastricht/Rotterdam/Eindhoven); what difference does it make, since the plane is making a stopover anyway?
For security reasons it is not possible to leave the plane on a stopover airport. Passengers must board and leave the plane at the airports specified on the tickets.
Why can’t I use my PIN card to pay for my parking ticket?
Groningen Airport Eelde uses a parking system that has been implemented nationally. This system does not support PIN card payments. You can pay for your parking ticket by credit card, ‘chipknip’ and in cash.
Can I have a tour of Groningen Airport Eelde?
Groningen Airport Eelde currently organises tours for branch-related organisations, and only in exceptional cases and by request. Such organisation may file a request by sending an email to marketing(at)gae.nl.
Due to intensified security measures and for logistical reasons, regrettably we cannot offer any tours of the airport to other target groups at the moment. Of course you can visit Groningen Airport Eelde at any time you want. The panorama seating area of Weelde offers an excellent view of the platform and the runway.
Tip! If you take a group of primary schoolchildren to go and have a look at the airport, we would like to offer the children a surprise bag of goodies. Please file your request in time; we will put the bags out for you at the airport.
Is my car safe on P4 (long stay)? Is there any surveillance?
The site is not monitored continuously, but it is closed for the evenings. Despite this extra security measure the airport offers, Groningen Airport Eelde will not be liable for any damages caused to your car.
