Airport fire services

Airport fire services: your safety first!

The presence of our own airport fire services originates from national and international aviation legislation. According to the guidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), airports are classified into certain categories. What the category actually reflects is the volume of air traffic which the airport may receive. It also represents the various responsibilities of the airport, including the obligatory presence of fire fighting services.

Extra tasks
The airport fire services do much more than just fire fighting; their tasks include maintenance of the fleet of vehicles, the greenery, electrical works, small scale extinguishing equipment and the maintenance of buildings. They are also responsible for fuelling aircraft, keeping runways free of birds and other animals, and keeping them free of snow and ice in the winter period.
