Why is the extension of the runway necessary?
· A longer runway will boost the northern economy. It will result in 600 additional jobs and it is important to open up the region.
· A longer runway will enable non-stop flights to destinations further away, outside Europe. This will make GAE a lot more interesting as an airport to travel organisations and airlines.
· Low-cost carriers and airlines using larger types of aircraft will also consider GAE to be an attractive airport when it has a longer runway.
· The longer runway will offer more opportunities to GAE to increase its market share in air cargo transportation.
· An international airport with good connections is an important condition for businesses to open an office.
