Safety

A relaxed start to your holiday is what our airport offers. We have many departments doing their utmost to make Groningen Airport Eelde as safe as possible for you.

After checking in your luggage, it is screened by X-ray equipment.
We’ll check whether you are carrying hazardous items, such as a can of butane gas for camping purposes, a large number of cans of hairspray, or other hazardous items.
All items must be able to withstand the pressure inside the aircraft hold, as they could otherwise pose a threat to your safety during the flight.
Before you board the plane or proceed to the departure hall, you will be subjected to a number of security checks.
Such checks are carried out in order to avoid any items being taken on board which might prove hazardous to passengers or crew. Particular attention is paid to all sharp items, such as scissors, knives, awls or similar. There are no restrictions on transporting sharp objects of this kind in the hold, by the way.
It is therefore important to give some thought, before checking in, as to whether your suitcase contains objects that are not allowed in the hold, and to ensure that any sharp objects are stowed away in the hold rather than in your carry-on luggage.

Safety checks at Groningen Airport Eelde are carried out by a private security company.

The menu on the left lists the services that work together to make your trip as safe as possible.

We would like to draw your attention to the importance of keeping an eye on your luggage. This will ensure that nobody can plant undesirable items in your luggage while it also reduces the risk of theft of any items of luggage.
